SUMMARY OF SENIOR PROFESSIONAL ROLES

Brian Stevenson Consulting (2018 - Current)  

Established in mid-2018, undertaking range of engagements with government, non-government and private sector agencies in service, infrastructure and project planning, project delivery, organisational planning, coaching and mentoring.

Engagements include:

Multiple Gateway and Project Assurance Reviews across states in health and justice

Victoria’s forensic mental health services - to assist in future service delivery needs and models, master planning, feasibility, business cases and infrastructure planning; asset strategy review and investment

Project Management and Advisory services working with a range of agencies, including in international development planning, strategic and business enhancement strategies, tender strategies and reviews, optimising property portfolios

Project Director roles - shorter term engagement eg to design organisational requirements in developing complex projects, engaging and setting up capabilities

Developing others, support colleagues through coaching and mentoring.

Chief Operating Officer, Court Services Victoria (2014 – 2018)

Chief Operating Officer Assets and Security division. Worked with executive team to establish new statutory authority. Led the development of the asset and security division including operating and project delivery frameworks. Built expert and greatly expanded resource base and team. Developed and implemented property vestment and sub divisions. Completed and promulgated a widely acclaimed Strategic Asset Plan and statewide 15-year investment strategy, developed Asset Management framework and Property Division, oversaw successful business cases and resultant capital and infrastructure investments across the state and highlighted by the new Shepparton Law Courts. Led development of new courts security model and procurement of statewide service. Built strong and effective partnerships to underpin successful program of significant developments.

Director Capital Planning and Infrastructure, Monash Health (2007 – 2014)

Director of Capital Planning and Infrastructure. Led capital, engineering and health technology divisions across Victoria’s largest health service. Delivered successful business cases and procurement of high-profile and often complex capital projects across major health campuses and oversaw major uplift and improvements in infrastructure and life cycle upgrades across key facilities. Facilitated improved funding mechanisms to support greatly improved maintenance programs. Led master planning across major campuses. Built expanded and expert teams; developed and improved systems and processes and project delivery expertise. Developed strong and effective partnerships.

Project Director, Alfred Health (2001 – 2007)

Project Director. Responsible for the planning and delivery of the high-profile Alfred Centre stages 1 and 2. Stage one was an innovative elective surgery - procedural and diagnostic centre, which later incorporated stage two a major expansion of clinical, major research and educational institutes. Role encompassed planning and delivery from inception to completion including unique new Model of Care and successful business cases. Built very effective partnerships and governance and engagement models. Project utilised unique and diverse funding sources and solutions and delivered a highly effective procurement approach to complete a complex and staged building program.

Brian Stevenson Consulting, (2000 – 2001) 

Consulting services mainly in health sector. Included strategic planning, program development,project management, mentoring, business development strategies.

Project Consultant (and Manager Mental Health, Chief Psychiatric Nurse) Sisters of Charity Health Services (1995 – 2000)

Project Consultant. Team member of successful Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) bid and implementation of the new Robina Hospital, Gold Coast; as well as planning the privatization of the Austin Hospital (until set aside by government). Provided advice and guidance on national planning projects. Previously as Manager of St. Vincent’s Mental Health (Chief Psychiatric Nurse) led and developed new area mental health service, achieving ANZ Gold Award within 3 years. Contracted part-time as CEO of St John of God Hospital Brighton – led service improvement and establishment of future directions in mental health.

Chief Executive Officer (and Director Nursing), Drug Services Victoria (1992 – 1995)

Chief Executive Officer (initial appointment as Director of Nursing). Led major service redevelopment and reform including new service models, organisational realignment for nursing division and executive team. Responsible for planning and execution of new statewide service model including closure of services and transition to new sector. Significant change and consultation supporting workforce reform and with major industrial relations agreements required; and comprehensive project management across multiple elements.
